Recruiting Updates

1/29: Bobbie Massie: It is being reported that the big man has canceled his trip to Georgia this weekend. Alabama and Georgia have been his favorites and he tripped to T-Town this past weekend and had a great visit. Things are looking very positive for the #1 Prep Player in America to land in the heart of Dixie.

1/29: Kendall Kelly: WR, 6'4"/210 lbs., It looks like Kelly will sign with Clemson at this point.

1/29: Patrick Patterson: WR, 6'3"/215 lbs., Patterson is ranked the #5 WR in the nation and it appears to be down to Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee, who he is visiting this weekend. Ole Miss and Alabama should be the top two for this one. We feel good about our chances still.

1/29: Darren Myles: S, 6'/178 lbs., Myles appears to be a Bama lean. His last three are Alabama, LSU and Tennessee. He is close to a decision, but will contact players from each team to get a few questions answered and then make his decision. Miles is visiting with him today.

1/28: Janzen Jackson: CB, 6'/175 lbs., 4.3 The five star cornerback ranked second in the nation only to Dre Kirpatrick will visit the Capstone this weekend. He is currently commited to LSU, but a positive experience in Tuscaloosa may be enough to get him to switch to Alabama.

1/28: Gene Robinson: 5'10"/165 Safety, Memphis, TN: Robinson commited to North Carolina a couple of weeks ago, but plans to visit Alabama this weekend against Coach Davis' instructions. Coach Steele had been recruiting him, but coach Sunseri is now recruiting him. He is ranked the 62nd best corner in the country by Rivals. He could be plan B for Gerald West, but I don't see us taking him otherwise.

1/27: Petey Smith: 6'/240lbs, LB, Seffner, FL: Petey is ranked the 19th best inside linebacker in the nation by Scout and the 32nd best by Rivals. He is a brutal tackler with a nose for the ball. His brother was a freshman running back at Auburn this year, but Petey says Alabama was just the better school.

1/27: Patrick Patterson: The #4 WR in the nation is visiting Tennessee this weekend, but the real competion for his services is between Alabama and Ole Miss. The Rebels feel great about landing him, but we're hearing that Bama leads as of today despite recent comments to the contrary by Patterson to a Rebels site.

1/27: Eddie Lacy: (Press Here for video (Warning explicit language in video) Alabama told Trent Richardson that they were looking to sign another running back in the class and Trent had no problem with it. Coach Saban seems to have plucked the best running back out of the state of Louisiana in Lacy who is the #13 back in the nation according to Rivals. He visited Tuscaloosa last weekend and they now have what appears to be a huge lead. According to Lacy, Alabama is "way, way way ahead of everyone else." Eddie has work to do in the classroom, but has made significant improvement recently and now stands a possibility of qualifying, if not he will be signed and placed. Prep school should be all he would need if he does not manage to qualify.

1/27: Bobbie Massie: five-star Hargrave offensive lineman and the #1 prep player in America, Bobby Massie loved his visit to the Capstone last week and it appears Alabama holds a strong lead. He is visiting Georgia, which is the main competition for him, this weekend, but unless they pull a rabbit out of their hat the big guy looks to wear crimson this fall.

1/27: Kevin Norwood: The rivals have cranked up the retoric on wide receiver commitment Kevin Norwood, trying to convince him to decommit from Bama, but their efforts have been futile. He is Bama bound.

1/27: Darren Myles: Kirby Smart is visited with Darren Myles yesterday to try to seal the deal and it looks very positive.

1/27: Trent Richardson: Myer spent six hours with Trent Richardson and his coach last night at Richardson's house. Trent did not decommit, but is more confused than ever and his coach says Florida made up alot of ground and it's going to be interesting what happens on signing day. Coach Saban has already done his in-home visit with Trent, LSU is going to visit on Wednesday, then McElwain, Burns and Willis will visit him on Thursday, and FSU on Friday.

9/18: Kevin Norwood: WR 6'3, 185 from Biloxi, MS may be close to saying "Roll Tide!" Alabama has been his leader for a while and it appears he is close to making a decision. He is ranked the 47th best reciever in the nation by Rivals.

9/18: Petty Smith: MLB 6'5", 245 out of Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida has long been considered a heavy Auburn lean, but has recently moved Alabama to the top of his list. He is a smooth moving hard hitting linebacker with a head hunting mentality. He is ranked the number 14 Middle Linebacker by Scout and #33 by Rivals.

7/14: Anthony Orr: DT, 6'4", 265 out of Sparkman High school in Harvest Alabama. Orr is a three star prospect that many have penciled in as a BAMA future signee, but that may not be the case. While Alabama was the first offer and he is impressed with everything about them, Auburn is still in the hunt. While at Alabama the staff told him he needs to continue to work on his grades. Orr may decide before the season begins.

He is receiving interest from Notre Dame, North Carolina, Colorado, Ole Miss, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas, South Carolina in addition to Alabama. Alabama is his leader at the moment, but if Notre Dame offers it will be a battle for his services.

6/20: Mike Marrow: RB, 6'2, 240 Out of Toledo, Ohio is one of the best power backs in the nation and has commited to Bama. He was drawing interest from Nebraska, Ohio, Penn State, Notre Dame, Florida, Wisconsin and Michigan State to name a few, but chose Alabama in the end.
