Ray and his father both have been life long Florida State fans but when the time came for Melvin to decide where to play he chose Alabama, despite having to be taken to the hospital for dehydrating at BAMA's summer camp. Ray says he just felt more comfortable at ALABAMA than anywhere else. Ray is ranked the 18th best wide reciever in the nation and has developed a friendship with another BAMA prospect, Julio Jones.
